Job description
When travelers are searching for a hotel, we want the obvious choice to be trivago! Our leading metasearch engine is super fast and constantly optimized - enabling millions of travelers to compare hotel prices from hundreds of booking sites and find great deals in just a few clicks. We use cutting-edge technology, real-time auction, and machine learning techniques with petabytes of data to create an experience - time and money saved! In the lively city of Düsseldorf, we seize opportunities to learn everyday, innovate, and make an enduring mark on the travel industry. At trivago you will find those who aren't afraid of change but rather embrace it, turning every challenge into a pathway for growth. Join trivago, work with a great team, and grow with us! Join us in making a difference As a Software Engineer in our AI & Productivity Solutions team, you'll turn the everyday needs of colleagues across trivago (we call them talents) into shipped software. We built trivago Copilot, the Help Center smart search and the Business Studio chatbot, and we're now working on Claude automation, the "trivago brain" (our memory layer for AI) and a web app for our MCP and Skills Library. Our team of developers, QA, Product Owners, Project Managers and AI Strategy Managers delivers most of trivago's internal AI productivity tools, in a field that changes weekly. You'll own initiatives end to end, shape the technical approach, and mentor others as we grow. We move fast and hold high standards, and we invest just as much in each other's growth, so no one figures it out alone. If that pace energizes you, apply and help shape how trivago works with AI. How you’ll make an impact: Independently drive initiatives from prototype to production, building apps, integrations, copilots and chatbots for internal AI and productivity needs. Write clean, tested and maintainable code, and champion best practices and secure development principles across our connectors to SaaS and custom tools. Understand the business value behind every request: talk to talents about their workflows, advise them on technical opportunities, and turn their needs into solutions that matter. Contribute to architecture and technology discussions, evaluating alternative approaches and choosing the best fit for a fast-evolving AI stack together with our Product Owners. Share your work and learnings through Show & Tells, technical documentation and post-mortems, and guide less experienced engineers along the way. Stay close to the AI frontier by keeping up with new models, frameworks and best practices, and bring fresh approaches into the team's work. What you'll need to thrive: Strong full-stack engineering experience: you build APIs, integrations and data-backed features and ship maintainable software end to end, ideally with C#/.NET, React/TypeScript and Azure or similar cloud services (strong fundamentals in any modern stack carry over). A pragmatic, product-minded approach: you start from the problem, ship the smallest valuable version fast, iterate, and care whether what you built actually made someone's day easier. A collaborative, consultative style: you enjoy working with people across the company to figure out what's worth building, and you stay productive when priorities shift and there's no fixed six-month roadmap. A genuine learning mindset: you approach challenges with curiosity, seek out feedback, and pick up new tools and frameworks quickly. A performance mindset: you set ambitious goals for yourself and have the determination and resilience to follow through, even when the ground moves under you. An open and curious mindset toward AI: you experiment constantly, use AI to deliver real outcomes rather than demos, and apply the right guardrails for data access and privacy. Not ticking every box? We still want to hear from you. Apply, tell us what motivates you, and you could be a great match—now or in the future. Your application does not need to include a photo. Recruiting process for this role: - Asynchronous video interview - Technical interview with coding task - Profile Dynamics Assessment interview - Product + team fit interview Want to know more about life at trivago? Check out what our colleagues say on kununu and Glassdoor . What you can look forward to: trivago is a place where technical ambition meets genuine investment in your growth — here's what you can look forward to: Own your stack. We give engineers real agency over technical decisions. You'll work in small, autonomous teams with direct access to production, where your choices have measurable impact and your input actively shapes how we build. Stay sharp with dedicated learning opportunities. Beyond our campus library and free online courses, engineers get access to specialist technical meetups, internal guilds, architecture reviews, certifications, specialist tools, and hands-on experimentation time. Ship fast, learn faster. We run a continuous deployment culture with short feedba
